I did google search “is tesla safe”.

According to the EconomicTimes (India):

According to the study, Tesla cars have a fatal crash rate of 5.6 per billion miles driven. This is higher than other brands like Kia, which has a fatal crash rate of 5.5, and Buick at 4.8. The national average fatal crash rate for all cars in the U.S. stands at 2.8 per billion miles. Nov 20, 2024

Google Search Labs | AI Overview:

Tesla vehicles have advanced safety features and have received top safety ratings, but some studies have found that Teslas have a higher rate of fatal accidents than other cars.

Update 02-12-2025: (AP News, Tesla customers complaints in China) Her parents were injured in a Tesla crash. She ended up having to pay Tesla damages. I haven’t dug into the US Tesla issues yet, but occasionally I do hear issues around their battery (fire?), uncontrollable speeding, and last but not least the smartest guy on the earth promised Tesla FSD to be a reality in year 2017 (he promised in year 2015). So there is that.

Update 02-13-2025 (NPR) Trump administration set to purchase $400 million worth of armored Teslas. My comment: Some people didn’t learn a lesson from Hertz’s disastrous Tesla Model 3 fleet experiment. Toyotas are much cheaper and practical. I also feel Cyber Truck is the ugliest car/truck I saw in the USA since I came here in year 1997.

Update 02-15-2025 YT Canadian man sells both Teslas, cancels Cybertruck order to boycott Elon Musk (this is likely not safety related)

(Update 02-21-2025) Tweet re: Tesla most recent recall – Tesla recalls 380,000 vehicles in US over power steering assist issue by CNN

Reddit has quite a few threads on this too:

Bottomline: I won’t buy a Tesla, and I won’t drive a Tesla. Neither will my wife and (soon to be driving age) kid drive Tesla(s).

PS:

“would tesla go bankrupt without shanghai gigafactory” google search

Search Labs | AI Overview
Based on current information, it is highly likely that Tesla would face significant financial difficulties and could potentially even go bankrupt without the Shanghai Gigafactory, as it is a crucial production hub for Tesla, generating a large portion of their global vehicle sales and significantly contributing to their overall revenue, especially considering the size of the Chinese electric vehicle market; losing access to this production facility would severely impact their ability to meet demand and could lead to a major financial crisis.
