I feel RFK Jr. benefited from free publicity by saying or writing crazy things over the years (NY Times confirmation hearing for HHS secretary).
President Obama beat his democratic rival Hillary Clinton because his campaign website is better search engine optimized (SEO) for Google.
From 2012, Facebook and social media increasingly became more important than traditional news media including newspapers: some are aggregated via Google News.
Donald Trump won the 2016 and 2024 elections because of social media. He got his nationwide name recognition first from the Apprentice Show (NBC, 2004 to 2015)
Historically, Nixon lost to JFK after TV debate in 1960: 1960s was the golden era of network news (ABC, CBS, NBC etc.)
Tim Walz: Tim Walz privately arguing for Democrats to “be more visible on television presenting an alternate vision of governing — not just complaining about what Mr. Trump is doing.”
The one and only attention seeker
(AP) Donald Trump talks so much that White House stenographers and everyone else is struggling to keep up
The current decision makers in the US are not monsters. Monsters are strong and scary.
They’re just assholes. Greedy, whiny, pathetic assholes, the type of people who, if you met them at a party, would make you roll your eyes, mutter “What an asshole”, and walk away, never to speak to them again.
PS: senate confirmation hearings
It seems to me those are mostly show too. Because the republicans have lead in the senate – 53:47. As long as they don’t lose more than 4 (including 4) votes, they can rely on VP Vance’s tie breaking votes to pass the nominee.
It seems to me Patel, RFK Jr and couple others (including the lady who was Dem) are unfit. But republican senators pretty much bent to Trump’s knee and we have already seen Peter the alcoholic guy passed senate.
